About Is It Woke or Not?
We review movies and TV shows for identity politics, DEI, and activist messaging. Each review includes a score and a breakdown of the content behind it, so you can decide what to watch.
The score describes the content. It doesn’t rate the acting, writing, or how much you’ll enjoy it.
How reviews are made
We use automation, including AI, to gather and organize research. A reviewer checks the evidence and context, then writes the final review and sets the score.
01 / Research
Automated tools collect relevant plot details, reviews, interviews, and public discussion for the reviewer to work through.
02 / Editorial review
The reviewer checks conflicting claims, applies our seven criteria, and explains the score. They are responsible for what we publish.
Sources
What’s on screen matters most. Other sources help explain the choices behind a title and how audiences have responded.
Criteria
Every review uses these seven criteria. Public reaction and creator history carry less weight than the content itself.
Reading a score
Scores run from 0 to 100. A higher score means the themes we track are more prominent. Allow roughly 10 points either way: these are editorial judgments, and reasonable people will disagree.
We update reviews as new episodes or better sources become available, and correct mistakes when we find them.
