2:22 follows Dylan Branson, a New York air traffic controller who can spot patterns faster than other people. A flash leaves him unable to control two planes for a few seconds, and he is suspended because nearly 900 people could have died. Dylan then sees the same sounds, people, crashes, and broken objects repeat each day until everything ends at 2:22 p.m. Airports, city streets, an art gallery, and Grand Central Station give the film a tense but polished mystery mood.
Dylan meets Sarah, a passenger from the near-crash, and their quick romance becomes tied to a murder that happened at Grand Central 30 years earlier. Dylan believes a space event has connected him and Sarah to the dead couple and may force them to repeat the same tragedy. The story uses a past-life link, shared birthdays, visions, and repeating patterns to explore fate, choice, love, jealousy, and obsession. The ending presents love and personal choice as stronger than a violent cycle, while Dylan leaves his fear behind and becomes a pilot.
