Arcadian follows Paul, a father who raises his twin teenage sons, Joseph and Thomas, after a disaster destroys most of the world. The family lives on a remote farm where daylight brings a small routine and darkness brings fast, violent creatures. Paul leaves their safe house when Thomas is late, and a monster attack leaves Paul badly hurt. The boys must use their father’s lessons while they face fear, anger, and the strain of growing up.
The ruined world carries a small climate warning because Paul links the collapse to climate change. The main story centers on family duty, brotherly love, and the cost of protecting people you love. Joseph is quiet and careful, while Thomas is bold and acts on feeling, so both boys must learn from each other. A brief prayer and family meal add a small faith note, but the film stays focused on family sacrifice, practical skill, and hope.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Arcadian.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The central cast is built around a father, twin sons, and nearby farming families. The film does not make race, gender, sexuality, or representation part of the characters’ importance.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Paul briefly links the collapse to climate change getting out of control. The film does not turn that line into a political speech or a call for climate action. Most dialogue covers family rules, fear, science, and survival.
5%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The film’s main themes are family duty, brotherly love, growing up, sacrifice, and survival. The boys’ conflict is about their different temperaments, not race, gender, sexuality, or group rights.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The story shows a ruined society and dangerous people, but it does not attack modern Western institutions, family life, men, religion, or traditional roles. The danger comes from creatures and the struggle to protect the family.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Arcadian is an original post-apocalyptic story rather than an adaptation of established characters, canon, or real history.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The supplied X research found no anti-woke posts, campaigns, or review-bombing. Wider discussion focused on the creatures, shaky camera work, family story, and Nicolas Cage’s small role.
0%
Creator track record context
Benjamin Brewer and Michael Nilon have low cached scores and no known activist record. Nicolas Cage also has a low cached score and no clear identity-politics pattern. David M. Wulf produced Call Jane, but his wider work is mixed and this title has no matching activist message. The other listed producers have mostly commercial genre backgrounds.
