Bagman follows Patrick McKee, a father who returns to his old home in New Jersey with his wife, Karina, and their young son, Jake. Patrick is struggling after a failed tree-cutting invention and still carries the scars of a childhood attack by the Bagman, a creature said to steal children and lock them in a rotting sack. Strange sounds, old memories, and a missing toy make Patrick fear that the monster has returned for Jake. The film has a dark, slow horror tone and centers on a parent trying to protect his family.
The family includes a white father and a black mother in a modern New Jersey story. The movie treats their marriage as ordinary family life, and their identities do not drive the conflict. The main ideas are childhood fear, family love, grief, money trouble, sleep loss, and the pressure of caring for a small child. Patrick’s fight is personal and supernatural, and the family tries to trust one another while facing the monster.

Colm McCarthy and most of the other listed producers have little or no activist record in the supplied context. This gives the creative team a mild woke track record signal, while the movie itself stays focused on folklore and family fear.
