Charlotte is a tired engineer and mother who feels stuck while her old friend Jackie seems to have everything. A wrong GPS address sends Charlotte, her husband Rob, and their children to Jackie's large home during a snowy Christmas trip. Charlotte plans to expose Jackie's perfect life, but jealousy and old school feelings make the visit worse. The movie mixes family comedy, romance, grief, Santa magic, and a strange hot-air-balloon adventure.
The clearest woke element is a repeated girl-power pattern in which women have the best skills and solve the main problems. Jackie sold an aviation company and builds a solar balloon. Charlotte uses her engineering skills to help save it, and Beatrix is a child genius. A woman named Rose also worked as a head mechanic. Female friendship and sisterhood form the main emotional center, while men mostly support the women or provide jokes.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Best. Christmas. Ever!.
Woke representation / casting
Jackie is a black woman who sold an aviation company and leads the family’s main holiday project. Charlotte is a woman with a physics background who works as an engineer and helps save the balloon. Beatrix is a girl prodigy, and Rose is shown as a woman who was a head mechanic. The movie does not call this a diversity cause, but its repeated pattern of highly skilled women in major roles is easy to see.
47%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The dialogue focuses on jealousy, family, jobs, Christmas, and grief. A newsletter mentions humanitarian work and green energy, but the film does not use those points as a political argument.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The story centers on two women whose friendship drives the conflict and the ending. Jackie builds a solar balloon, Charlotte uses her engineering skills to repair it, and Beatrix is written as a child genius. The men mostly serve as husbands, helpers, or comic side characters while the women control the key solutions. Netflix and Lambert also frame the movie as girl power and a story led by powerful women.
56%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film warns against envy, false images of perfect lives, and one company’s unsafe product. It does not attack masculinity, Christianity, family life, or Western institutions through a modern activist message.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This is an original Christmas comedy, not a new version of an established story. No race, gender, sexuality, or hero-role change is made to a known character or real person.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The separate X pass found no anti-woke reaction. Reddit, Letterboxd, and news reviews complained about bad writing, weak acting, and strange plot turns, not woke, DEI, or identity politics.
0%
Creator track record context
Mary Lambert’s broader career is mostly commercial filmmaking, horror, music videos, and television. Charles Shyer often wrote stories about women, work, family, and independence. Todd Calgi Gallicano and most producers have little public activist history. The title’s female-centered story gives Shyer’s pattern some support, but the team does not show a strong activist record.
