C'mon C'mon is a quiet, black-and-white drama about a radio journalist named Johnny who looks after his young nephew, Jesse. Together, they travel across America while Johnny interviews real kids about their thoughts on the future. The movie features mild social-justice elements, such as on-screen quotes from a feminist book critiquing the societal burdens placed on mothers. Woke representation / casting
The movie uses a simple, straightforward cast with Joaquin Phoenix and Woody Norman in the main roles. Woke political dialogue
The speech is mostly natural, but there are minor political hints. During the real-life interviews, one child briefly says that people face unfair treatment because of race and "who they like". Jesse also mentions his mother's past abortion. These are brief, background-level moments rather than preachy speeches.

Identity-driven story themes
The main story is entirely about characters. It focuses on a personal uncle-nephew relationship, mental health struggles, and the normal worries of childhood and parenting. It does not center on modern identity politics or activist-driven messaging.

Western institutional / cultural critique
The film gently questions traditional ideas about family and parenting. It features on-screen quotes from a feminist book called "Mothers: An Essay on Love and Cruelty". These quotes discuss how society unfairly blames mothers for family problems. The story also shows a man being emotionally open, which moves away from tough guy expectations.
