Sir David Attenborough looks back on his long life filming nature around the world. He shows how wild places and animals have declined during his lifetime. The film uses big nature scenes, old career clips, and simple on-screen facts. The tone is serious and sad at first, then turns toward hope and what people can still do.
The film is mainly a strong climate and nature lecture, not a race, gender, or LGBTQ story. Viewers will clearly hear calls to cut meat, use clean energy, protect oceans, and “rewild” land. It also backs slowing population growth through less poverty, better healthcare, and more schooling for girls. That progressive green message is the main activist push. Identity politics, diversity casting, and queer themes are not what this movie is about.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet.
Woke representation / casting
This is a nature documentary led by David Attenborough. The “cast” is him plus wildlife footage. There is no push for identity-based casting in big roles, and no diversity quota style casting for the audience to notice.
0%
Woke political dialogue
The whole film is spoken activist climate talk. He pushes clean energy, less meat, ocean rules, rewilding, and population slowing. Viewers will hear strong green sermons. It is progressive policy speech, not race, gender, or queer identity speeches.
72%
Identity-driven story themes
The core story is nature loss and climate repair. The only clear social-identity note is backing girls’ schooling (with healthcare and less poverty) so population growth slows sooner. That is light progressive policy, not a race, gender-swap, or LGBTQ plot.
28%
Western institutional / cultural critique
It blames modern human systems—overuse of land and sea, heavy meat diets, endless growth habits—for wrecking nature. That is a clear green critique of how rich industrial life works. It does not center patriarchy, Christianity, whiteness, or DEI-style Western guilt.
68%
Woke character or canon changes
Not present in this title.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Some right-leaning and climate-skeptic voices call the film or Attenborough’s message propaganda, alarmist, or population-control politics. That is limited and not a major DEI/identity casting firestorm about this title.
12%
Creator track record context
Cached crew scores show a pattern of wildlife film and green campaign work (WWF-style climate and nature messaging), with little identity-first or DEI politics. That fits this environmental manifesto more than a woke identity project.
