Eternity is a fantasy romance movie about a woman named Joan in the afterlife. She must make a difficult choice between her first husband, who died young in a war, and the second husband she spent her whole life with. The movie features a diverse supporting cast, including a gay comedian who plays a very playful guide. In the background of the afterlife, viewers can see various funny themed worlds, including one called Queer World and a manless area for tired women. These diverse and gender-focused elements are easily visible in the background but do not take over the main traditional love story.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Eternity.
Woke representation / casting
The three main actors are straight and white. However, the supporting actors are diverse. Gay comedian John Early plays a very playful, queer-coded guide. Black actress Da'Vine Joy Randolph also plays a major role as a smart, capable guide. The casting fits the fun afterlife setting but highlights identity choices in the smaller roles.
41%
Woke political dialogue
The script does not have preachy speeches or political lectures. It focuses on the emotional choices of the main characters. There are a few short, lighthearted jokes about a manless world for tired women. There is also a joke about a past German world with no Nazis. These are just small jokes and not serious political statements. The dialogue stays very safe and normal for a love story.
5%
Identity-driven story themes
The main story is a classic romance between a woman and two men. It does not focus on social justice. However, the background of the afterlife features identity-focused areas like Queer World. There are also jokes about a women-only zone. This makes these themes slightly noticeable in the background.

Western institutional / cultural critique
The movie makes some gentle fun of capitalism. It shows the afterlife like a busy marketplace where workers sell eternity packages like vacations. It does not attack traditional families, marriage, or religion. In fact, the story ends by celebrating a long-term, real traditional marriage instead of a short, perfect fantasy.
20%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This is an original movie. It is not based on any old book, show, or real history, so there are no changes to look at.

Anti-woke backlash and complaints
There was a small amount of anger on online forums like Reddit. Some users complained that the movie is a selfish female fantasy. They did not like that the wife hesitates to choose the husband who took care of her when she was sick. Others disliked the quick background jokes about identity. This backlash stayed small and did not become a big debate.

Creator track record context
Director David Freyne has a strong history of making movies about queer themes. Co-writer Pat Cunnane used to write for President Obama and has normal liberal views. The other producers and actors mostly stay out of politics. This creates a moderate overall score for the team's track record.
