Paul, Apostle of Christ follows Luke, a doctor and follower of Jesus, as he enters Rome to visit Paul in prison. Paul is an older man who awaits execution under Emperor Nero after years of serving the early church. Luke records Paul's memories, while Christians hide, flee, or argue about whether to fight back. The film has a dark, serious tone, with prison scenes, beatings, killings, and strong religious drama.
The story centers on Paul's change from a violent persecutor into a man who teaches love, mercy, and forgiveness. Luke struggles with fear and doubt as he writes the story that will become Acts. Priscilla and Aquila shelter Christians, while a young believer calls for revenge against Rome. Paul rejects revenge and says that Christian love must guide the community even when Rome uses terror.
