Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar follows Rohan “Mickey” Arora, a rich Delhi man who secretly helps couples end their relationships. He falls for Tinni, a career-focused woman he meets in Spain, and their quick romance leads to plans for marriage. Mickey wants a life inside his loud Punjabi joint family, while Tinni wants her own home, space, and time for work. The comedy uses fast jokes, long speeches, songs, lies, and a large airport chase before the couple faces that choice. The main woke element is a long gender-role conflict about a woman’s independence, career, and right to avoid living with her husband’s family. Tinni is shown as modern and willing to leave a relationship that may control her life. The film treats her fear as real for much of the story, but it finally praises Mickey’s family and has her join the household. The ending mixes a clear female-autonomy theme with a traditional message that love and family should win over her wish for a separate life.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The lead cast fits a present-day Indian romance set around Delhi and Spain. The film does not make ethnic, religious, queer, disability, or diversity-first casting part of its visible story.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Tinni and Mickey repeatedly argue about a woman’s independence, career, and duty to a husband’s family. Tinni says she wants her own space and fears losing her life after marriage. Mickey answers with long speeches about family duty and why his family should stay together. The debate appears in the romance, family scenes, and final breakup, although the ending favors family unity.
40%
Identity-driven story themes
The central romance turns on Tinni’s wish to keep her job, own home, and personal choices after marriage. Tinni tries to leave because Mickey’s family plans to shape her daily life and future. Mickey and his relatives treat joint-family living as the proper answer to her fear. The story gives her independence real weight, but it finally asks her to accept the family home.
47%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film presents Mickey’s joint family as loving but also loud, intrusive, and ready to make choices for Tinni. Tinni treats that traditional family model as a threat to her work and freedom. The story exposes these pressures but then softens them with jokes, apologies, and a family-first ending. It does not attack Western institutions, capitalism, or Christianity.
30%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. This is an original modern romance with no established characters, older canon, or historical figures being changed.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
On X, @GemsOfBollywood called the trailer “woke kachra” and blamed wokeism for the film’s failure, with posts reaching about 2,000 likes and 178,000 views. A few small accounts repeated that Tinni was a woke pseudo feminist. The complaints were repeated but stayed mostly around one right-leaning culture account, with no organized boycott or major news cycle. Praise for the film as anti-woke is approval and does not raise this score.
