Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Worth.
Woke representation / casting
The casting matches the real-life people from the 9/11 fund. However, the film clearly casts diverse actors to represent the victims and focuses on identity. The inclusion of a gay couple fighting for rights adds a clear representation element, even though it is based on a real-life story.

Woke political dialogue
The characters talk directly about same-sex marriage, civil unions, and equal rights for gay couples. They say it is unfair that state laws do not recognize these relationships, which connects the tragedy to the fight for gay rights. There is also talk criticizing a system that values rich bosses over normal workers.

Identity-driven story themes
A main side-story is about a gay man, Graham Morris, who lost his partner in the attacks. The story shows his struggle to get money because his state does not recognize gay partnerships, and his partner's homophobic parents try to stop him. This LGBTQ+ storyline adds a clear focus on sexual identity.

Western institutional / cultural critique
The movie critiques government systems and capitalism. It shows how the fund was made to save airlines from going bankrupt instead of just helping people. It also points out unfair historical laws that stopped gay couples from getting benefits. However, it still shows the American legal system in a positive way at the end.
