Albert Einstein

Personal context

Summary

Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist whose work on relativity and quantum theory made him one of the best-known scientists of the twentieth century. His public writing and advocacy addressed pacifism, international cooperation, Zionism, socialism, and racial discrimination; he spoke publicly against racism in the United States and supported peaceful coexistence between Jews and Arabs. In “Why Socialism?” he argued for a socialist economy, and he publicly supported abortion access. His public record includes sustained political and social advocacy, rather than a career in film or television.
