Personal context

Summary

André 3000 is a musician and actor known for OutKast and for playing Jimi Hendrix in All Is by My Side. His work ranges from Southern hip-hop and genre-blending songs to the instrumental flute album New Blue Sun. During OutKast’s 2014 reunion tour, he wore jumpsuits with messages, some responding to unrest after Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson. In 2020, he sold shirts bearing those slogans and donated all proceeds to the Movement for black Lives, publicly supporting its work against police brutality and racial injustice. No public statements on DEI or partisan politics are on record.
