Cheng Pei-pei

Personal context

Summary

Cheng Pei-pei was a Hong Kong-American actor known for wuxia films including Come Drink with Me and Golden Swallow, and for roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Mulan. Her screen work often featured skilled women fighters; in interviews, she recalled insisting on performing the same stunts as male actors and observed that women’s leading roles later gave way to male leads. Her public record includes those career reflections, but no public statements on identity politics, DEI, or activism are on record.
