Summary

Chris Bauer is an American actor known for The Wire, True Blood, Third Watch, and The Deuce, with extensive stage work as a member of Atlantic Theater Company. His roles often include flawed, working-class characters, and he has described his acting approach as seeking to subvert audience expectations. In an interview about True Blood, he said he was protective of gay family members and sensitive to anything suggesting they were “less than” anyone else; he also discussed the show’s metaphorical connection to marginalized communities.
