Personal context

Summary

Corey Hawkins is an American actor known for Straight Outta Compton, 24: Legacy, BlacKkKlansman, In the Heights, and The Tragedy of Macbeth. His work spans biographical dramas, action television, musicals, and Shakespeare; in interviews, he has repeatedly discussed the importance of black representation on screen and in the creation of stories. He has said that seeing a black actor lead 24: Legacy mattered because young viewers could see a hero who looked like them, and that Black performers belong in Shakespeare. He has also said that police brutality remains relevant and that Straight Outta Compton could continue the dialogue. No public partisan campaigning or formal activist affiliation is on record.
