Harry Shearer

Personal context

Summary

Harry Shearer is a writer, actor, comedian, and radio host known for This Is Spinal Tap, The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, and his long-running political satire program Le Show. His public work often scrutinizes politicians, government failures, corporate power, and media coverage; he also wrote and directed The Big Uneasy, about the human and engineering causes of New Orleans’s flooding after Hurricane Katrina. In an interview, he described Ricky Martin’s performance at George W. Bush’s inauguration as a signal of “diversity” and “reaching out.” He has also made pointed political satire about Donald Trump, while his public record does not show a sustained focus on DEI or identity-based advocacy.
