Johnny Ryan

Personal context

Summary

Johnny Ryan is an American alternative comics creator, writer, and animator known for Angry Youth Comix, Blecky Yuckerella, Prison Pit, and the animated series Pig Goat Banana Cricket. His work is deliberately crude, violent, provocative, and broadly irreverent, with humor aimed at many groups rather than a sustained political or identity-based message. In interviews, Ryan has explicitly described his comics as nonpolitical and denied an agenda against minorities, gay people, or religion. His later animation and franchise writing remain conventional entertainment work, and there is no documented pattern of activist, DEI, representation-first, partisan, or anti-woke public activity.
