Lucian Msamati

Personal context

Summary

Lucian Msamati is a British-Tanzanian actor and theatre-maker known for roles in Game of Thrones, Gangs of London and major UK stage productions. He was artistic director of the British-African theatre company Tiata Fahodzi and the first black actor to play Iago in an RSC production of Othello. In interviews, he has argued that black actors should not be confined to race-defined roles and that people should be seen as psychologically complex; he has also supported re-examining classic plays for modern audiences. No public record of party campaigning or sustained advocacy on political causes is evident.
