Personal context

Summary

Miri Mesika is an Israeli singer and actress known for her pop and folk-influenced music, television work, and leading role in the West End production of The Band’s Visit. She has repeatedly criticized the exclusion of women singers from music charts and festivals, calling for equal opportunities and objecting to religious restrictions on women singing before men. In a 2017 interview, she also said children are happiest when their mother stays home and dismissed feminists’ objections, a counterpoint to her comments on women’s opportunities.
