Summary

Paul Reubens was an actor, writer, and comedian best known for creating and playing Pee-wee Herman in Pee-wee’s Playhouse and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. His work blended surreal comedy, camp, and theatricality, often celebrating eccentricity and difference. In a 2014 interview, he said racial diversity was a major priority in casting Pee-wee’s Playhouse and recalled being aware of racial inequality while growing up in Florida.
