Prithviraj Sukumaran

Personal context

Summary

Prithviraj Sukumaran is a Malayalam actor, director, and producer known for films including Mumbai Police, Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Lucifer, and Aadujeevitham. Ego, power, masculinity, and political conflict recur in his work, though he has said he has never made a film for political reasons. In public, he supported Jamia Millia Islamia students protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act, defended Lakshadweep residents’ right to be heard over new administrative measures, and called for accountability and safer, more inclusive workplaces after the Hema Committee report. He has also argued for India’s “unity in diversity” amid language debates; no public party affiliation or formal DEI role is on record.
