Sanjeev Bhaskar

Personal context

Summary

Sanjeev Bhaskar is a British actor, comedian, writer, and presenter known for Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No. 42, which used comedy to portray British Asian family and community life. He has described creating Goodness Gracious Me as a way for its cast to take control of their community’s stories, called culturally distinctive art important, and argued that London stories without diversity present a distorted picture of the city. He has also criticized diversity quotas, saying they can cut off discussion of whether a show is good. His public record includes commentary on screen representation, but no sustained record of campaigning on party politics or broader social causes.
