Person profile
Personal context
Sheila Atim is a Ugandan-born British actor, playwright, singer and composer known for stage work including Girl from the North Country and Othello, and screen roles in The Underground Railroad and The Woman King. She has spoken repeatedly about racial representation in entertainment, saying more women who look like her should receive awards and calling for more representative producers and decision-makers; she hopes to contribute to that change. In 2021, she publicly raised concerns about allegations of bullying and racist attitudes at LAMDA, where she trained. Atim has also described herself as an advocate for youth arts access and became a patron of Kids Club Kampala. No public party campaigning, DEI group affiliation, or sexuality self-identification is on record.
