Shruti Haasan

Personal context

Summary

Shruti Haasan is an Indian actor, singer, and musician whose screen work spans Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, including 3, D-Day, and Pitta Kathalu. Her credits range from commercial action and romance to stories about women’s lives and social power. She has spoken about women’s unequal pay, safety, and empowerment, and has said that feminism’s history and unfinished work deserve recognition; in 2016, she said she supported women’s causes while preferring the label “humanist.” She has publicly supported her father Kamal Haasan’s political reform effort, but no public record of her own sustained party campaigning or identity-focused organizational affiliations is established.
