Toko Miura

Personal context

Summary

Toko Miura is a Japanese actor and singer known for Drive My Car, her lead role in I Am What I Am (Sobakasu), and vocals on Weathering with You. Her work includes intimate character dramas, and I Am What I Am centers on an aromantic asexual woman navigating social expectations around romance and marriage. Miura said she was drawn to the project because it could introduce audiences to a little-known sexuality, and that its challenge to ideas of what is “normal” resonated with thoughts she had held herself. No public record of her political campaigning, party affiliations, or wider advocacy on identity or social causes is established.
