Yael Grobglas

Personal context

Summary

Yael Grobglas is an Israeli actress known for playing Petra Solano and her twin Anežka on Jane the Virgin, as well as roles in Reign and Israeli film and television. Her work includes comic, often morally complicated characters; she has also discussed Jane the Virgin’s serious family stories and Petra’s relationship with a woman. Grobglas said she was proud that Jane the Virgin had a female showrunner, women among its lead cast, and a majority of women writers and directors, adding that the production helped pave the way for change in that area. No public record of her party campaigning, activist affiliations, or identity-advocacy campaigns is established.
