2021–2023 · Based on 2 seasons through December 15, 2023 ·
Marvel Studios Legends is a short recap show about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Each episode follows one hero, villain, team, or object through scenes from earlier Marvel films and shows. The stories move from New York and Washington to Wakanda, outer space, and other timelines. The tone is fast, dramatic, and made to prepare viewers for a new Marvel release.
Across both seasons, the show gives repeated attention to Sam Wilson, Shuri, the Dora Milaje, Kamala Khan, Monica Rambeau, Captain Marvel, and the Skrulls. The clips show a black hero taking on a major American symbol, black women as leaders and fighters, and Kamala as a Pakistani Muslim teen whose family history reaches back to the Partition of India. The show also presents the Skrulls as refugees seeking a home and uses short lines about oppressed people, governments, and power. These themes are visible in the selected scenes, but the series mainly repeats older footage instead of adding new story scenes or commentary.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Marvel Studios Legends.
Woke representation / casting
The recap gives full episodes to Sam Wilson, T’Challa, Shuri, the Dora Milaje, Kamala Khan, Monica Rambeau, and James Rhodes. It also centers a Pakistani Muslim teen and groups of black women leaders and fighters. This repeated focus runs through both seasons and includes major heroic roles. The show uses old MCU footage, so the casting pattern comes from the projects that Legends chooses to feature.
43%
Woke political dialogue
The Dora Milaje episode includes Killmonger saying that oppressed people should rise up against those in power. The Talos and the Skrulls episode calls the Skrulls homeless refugees who are fighting for a home. The Kamala episode says that brown girls from Jersey City do not usually save the world. These lines come from older MCU scenes, and Legends adds no new political dialogue.
22%
Identity-driven story themes
Several episodes make family background, race, or group identity part of the hero story. Kamala's recap centers her Pakistani Muslim family, the Partition story, and the idea that a brown girl can become a hero. The Wakanda recaps center Black heritage, Shuri's leadership, and the Dora Milaje as female warriors. Talos's recap presents the Skrulls as displaced people fighting for a home. These themes recur across both seasons, but each appears through a short recap of an older story.
34%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The Kamala recap shows U.S. agents searching a mosque and other community spaces while pursuing a Muslim teen. The Dora Milaje recap includes a British museum, an American buyer, and Killmonger's plan to arm oppressed people against those in power. These clips create a limited critique of government and Western power. The message appears in a few short recaps and does not control the series.
22%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Legends only rearranges archived MCU scenes. Identity-based mantle changes such as Sam's shield, Shuri's Black Panther role, and Jane's hammer belong to the underlying stories, not this recap.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The X research found no anti-woke posts or named complaints. Wider coverage criticized the clip-show format and a spoiler problem, not woke or DEI content.
0%
Creator track record context
Kevin Feige is an executive producer, and Marvel Studios controls the series. The studio's recent MCU slate repeatedly centers women, black heroes, Asian heroes, and a Pakistani Muslim teen, including the projects that supply these clips. That record gives clear background context, but no title-specific Feige statement presents Legends itself as an activist project.
