Quinn repeatedly chooses work, money, and her own future instead of waiting for a man to save her. She leaves for New York to keep her dance hall alive, then returns and builds a music festival to help the town. Ellie shares control of the dance hall and supports Quinn, while Season 2 follows Lauren as she leaves behind her old cheerleader image and follows a new relationship. These themes recur across both seasons, but the show remains mainly a romance and family drama.

Quinn pushes back when Staten ignores her and when he damages her car to control a talk. Lauren’s father tries to control her dating life and future, and the show treats his strict rules as a problem. Several men are selfish, controlling, or emotionally closed, while women often set the terms of work and relationships. The story still respects ranching, family, law, and community, so the critique stays limited.

One tiny X reply called the show woke and said it belittles men. Most of the few anti-woke posts praised the show for avoiding woke or anti-White content, which is not a complaint that the show is woke. No large influencer campaign, boycott, or review-bomb drive was reported.

Available creator summaries place April Blair at 22, while the other writers, directors, and producers mostly fall between 0 and 35. The summaries show no strong activist or identity-politics pattern among the team. Laura Nava’s profile lists her as queer and native American, which is a modest context signal, but it reports no strong activism.
