2019 · Based on 1 season, 5 episodes through June 25, 2019 ·
Professor Brian Cox guides viewers through the birth and long history of the eight planets in our solar system. The central problem is how worlds form, collide, move, cool, and sometimes lose the conditions needed for life. Cox travels through striking Earth locations while computer images and space missions show Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The tone is calm, dramatic, and full of wonder, but it also warns that every planet can change or die.
The clearest woke-related idea is a mild environmental message about the danger of changing atmospheres. The show compares Venus and Mars with Earth and explains that greenhouse gases and lost atmospheres can make a world hostile to life. Cox also says that people should stay connected to nature and that science matters for human survival. This message appears around the science rather than as a political campaign, and the rest of the season stays focused on space missions, the search for life, planetary history, and the debate over Pluto.
