Acts of Violence is a 2018 action thriller set in Cleveland. Roman MacGregor is about to marry Mia when human traffickers kidnap her after her bachelorette party. His older brothers Deklan and Brandon use their Army Ranger training to hunt the gang. Detectives James Avery and Brooke Baker investigate the same ring, but police corruption and slow rules delay the rescue. The movie has a dark, rough, and highly violent revenge tone.
The story uses a real social problem as the reason for a rescue and revenge plot. The kidnapped women remain the reason the men fight, while the brothers and detectives drive most of the action. The movie also shows PTSD, drug use, police failure, and the cost of violent choices. Its strongest ideas are family loyalty and direct force over trust in the law. The plot stays focused on crime, survival, and personal revenge.
