Al Gore leads this documentary as he travels from Greenland to Miami, India, and Paris. He studies melting ice, floods, storms, and the people living with their effects. He also trains new climate leaders and works with officials on the Paris climate agreement. The tone moves between frightening warnings, personal moments, and hopeful talk about new energy.
The film treats climate change as an urgent crisis that demands action from governments, businesses, and ordinary people. Gore praises solar and wind power and urges viewers to pressure leaders when they fail to act. The movie blames fossil fuel interests and Donald Trump’s Paris withdrawal for slowing progress. Its message is strongly environmental and political, but it is not built around race, gender, or sexual identity.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The film uses real officials, experts, activists, and people affected by storms. The visible people appear because of their roles in the climate story, not because of a diversity-first cast.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Al Gore repeatedly gives speeches about climate change, carbon pollution, renewable power, and political action. The film urges citizens to pressure leaders and join local campaigns when governments fail. The documentary treats the Paris Agreement as a major answer and Donald Trump’s withdrawal as a serious setback. The dialogue is frequent and central, but it focuses on environmental policy rather than race, gender, or sexuality.
72%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The story follows climate action rather than a race, gender, or queer identity struggle. Its main people are shown for their work on climate issues, not for an identity message.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The film says big donors and fossil fuel lobbyists can block climate action. Gore calls this part of a “democracy crisis” and shows climate deniers as spreading confusion. The documentary treats Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement as a harmful political choice. The criticism targets government, money, and energy policy, not family life, religion, or ordinary Western customs.
45%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film follows real Al Gore and real climate events. It does not change a known person’s race, gender, sexuality, or role.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Several conservative reviews call the film environmental propaganda or a politically correct climate message. Those reviews object to its climate activism, its treatment of fossil-fuel critics, and its use of Trump as the opposing figure. Some audience reviews also call it propaganda or lies. The X response is fringe, and no large identity-based backlash is visible.

Creator track record context
The directors’ cached scores are 27 each and reflect climate and social-issue documentaries. Gore’s cached score is 12 because climate advocacy is his main focus, not race, gender, or queer politics. Jeff Skoll, Diane Weyermann, and other producers have stronger cause-driven records through Participant Media and related work. The team supports the film’s strong climate-activist message, but the cached record does not show an identity-politics focus for the whole group.
