Cain Burgess is a small-time criminal who has spent seven years in a brutal prison. During a short trip to see his dying mother, he learns that she has died and escapes from his guards. He returns to a private pub in East London and takes the gang members inside hostage. He wants to reach his brother Lincoln, the crime boss who helped send him to prison. The film has a dark, harsh tone with bloody fights, rough jokes, and a cold revenge story.
Cain tells the gang how a failed job, a false report, and repeated prison punishment turned him into a killer. Lincoln's gang steals homes, cars, and money from families by tricking them into carrying packages. Cain hunts the people who betrayed him, but the film shows that revenge has damaged him as much as prison did. After killing Lincoln, Cain uses the stolen fortune to give the gang's victims a chance to start again. The story treats Cain as a damaged man, not a clean hero.
