Chup follows Danny, a quiet florist in Mumbai who becomes a killer after film critics give harsh reviews to movies. A police officer and a young entertainment reporter try to find him before more critics die. The story mixes crime, romance, dark humor, and ideas about art. The movie also draws from classic Hindi films and the life of filmmaker Guru Dutt. The movie does not clearly push modern identity politics or activist ideas. Its main message concerns unfair film reviews, artists, and the pressure created by public judgment. Nila works as a reporter, and Zenobia works as a criminal psychologist, but the story does not frame their jobs as a diversity message. Danny’s childhood trauma and divided mind drive the violence.
