Clara is a quiet 2018 science-fiction drama set mainly around a Toronto university and the work of astronomers. Isaac Bruno is a grieving scientist who has lost his job after breaking rules while hunting for life beyond Earth. He hires Clara, a wandering artist with a secret illness, and their work brings them close. The film moves slowly between telescope data, sad memories, romance, and questions about whether science can explain love and death.
The film treats science and spiritual belief as two ways people search for meaning, and it asks whether humans can stay connected when proof is impossible. Clara gives Isaac emotional insight while he tries to understand love after the death of his child. The story presents Clara as a free-spirited artist and Isaac as a damaged scientist, so their bond grows through shared questions instead of politics. The ending joins grief, love, and a possible message from alien life.

Creator track record context
Akash Sherman’s available creator record is centered on science, human connection, and independent filmmaking, and his stored score is 5/100. James Ewasiuk has little public political record, and his stored score is 0/100. Anant Singh has a strong anti-apartheid and liberation history, but that is classical political work rather than a modern DEI profile. The other stored crew scores are low and do not show a repeated identity-politics pattern.
