Wade Wilson has left his mercenary life and sells used cars, but he feels useless and forgotten. The Time Variance Authority tells him that his world will die because its Wolverine is dead. Wade finds a bitter Wolverine from another world, and the two men fight across broken timelines to save their friends and universe. The movie uses violent action, crude jokes, fourth-wall breaks, and nostalgia for older superhero films. The movie includes a lesbian couple in small supporting roles, several female fighters, a female Deadpool variant, and a villain played by non-binary actor Emma Corrin. These elements remain behind the central story about two male heroes, friendship, guilt, sacrifice, and redemption. The movie does not build its plot around identity, diversity, or social activism. Its main targets are Marvel, Disney, Fox, superhero fame, and its own rude style.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Woke representation / casting
The movie includes Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio as a lesbian couple, but they stay in small supporting roles. The Void group also includes female fighters such as Elektra and X-23, while Lady Deadpool appears briefly as a variant. The movie does not frame these choices as a diversity plan, and the two male leads carry the story.
18%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. Jokes are crude, sexual, and rude with lots of swearing and meta jabs at Disney, Marvel, and authority figures. There are no activist speeches, identity lectures, or political messaging.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The plot centers on male friendship, personal regret, and fighting a villain to save the universe. The background lesbian couple and some diverse supports exist but do not shape the story or arcs.
5%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The TVA is a science-fiction bureaucracy that threatens timelines, but the conflict is a standard fantasy villain plot. The movie does not build a modern attack on Western culture, family life, religion, or traditional gender roles.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Lady Deadpool and other variants are brief multiverse jokes, and the movie does not present them as ideological replacements for the main characters.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
A few small online accounts called Cassandra Nova a girlboss or treated X-23 and Lady Deadpool as woke. The complaints had little reach and did not become a boycott, review-bombing campaign, major news story, or public dispute. Right-leaning praise for the movie as not woke does not add to this score.
8%
Creator track record context
The stored records give Simon Kinberg and Sarah Halley Finn scores in the low 50s and Kevin Feige a score of 50 because of diversity-focused work elsewhere. Lauren Shuler Donner and Fabian Nicieza also have some social or political context. Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds, and several other writers have lower stored scores. This mixed history supports a moderate context score, but it does not match the film's main content.
