Joey and his older brother Matt live with their sick mother in a poor rural Kentucky town. Matt forces Joey to help steal money, but a security guard falls into an old well during the escape. Joey keeps bringing the guard food while Matt tries to leave him to die. The thriller uses a cold, tense mood and builds its story around family violence, fear, guilt, and hard moral choices.
The film follows Joey's struggle to stay kind while fear and loyalty pull him toward crime. The story shows how an abusive father has shaped Matt and how Matt passes that harm to Joey. The trapped guard seems like a father figure before his own crimes change the danger. Their sick mother carries a hidden violent past, and the ending brings the family's lies and pain into the open.
