Friendship is a dark comedy movie set in a modern American suburb that tells the story of an awkward dad named Craig. Craig has a regular office job and lives with his wife Tami and their teenage son Steven, but he feels very lonely. When a charming new neighbor named Austin moves in down the street, Craig becomes obsessed with being his best friend. Craig tries too hard to impress Austin, leading to crazy, uncomfortable situations that threaten to ruin both of their lives and marriage. The movie focuses deeply on the theme of adult male isolation and how hard it can be for grown men to make close friends. It explores Craig's deep social anxiety and his desperate need to belong, which drives him to make increasingly bizarre and unstable choices. The story also shows Craig's crumbling family life as his emotionally distant wife reconnects with an ex-boyfriend. Viewers watch Craig go down a dark path of obsession, which turns the film into a tense, cringey, and funny look at suburban desperation.
