Justin Powell has joined a violent cult and now calls himself Thanatos. His divorced parents, his brother Campbell, and his former girlfriend Samantha bring him to a remote cabin in 1983 after hiring Jimmy Levine, a former Marine who breaks cult members away from their groups. The family ties Justin to a chair and tries to restore his bond with them while the masked Jackals surround the house. The film uses a cold, bleak horror tone as family guilt, fear, and bloodshed build through one long night.
The movie centers on the clash between family loyalty and cult control. Andrew's cheating helped break the marriage, and his need to control the rescue keeps old wounds open. Samantha protects her baby while the family argues about whether Justin can be saved or handed back. The story presents fear, guilt, and failed parenting as personal problems inside a brutal siege.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Jackals.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The film does not present its cast as a diversity message. Its main roles serve the family and cult plot, with no identity-based casting claim.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The spoken conflict covers cult control, family blame, and survival. The characters do not deliver modern identity, DEI, or activist arguments.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. The title uses cult renaming and brainwashing as horror devices. It does not connect them to a modern identity or activist message.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Andrew's cheating helps explain the divorce and the broken family. Andrew also tries to control the rescue, and the father-led plan repeatedly creates conflict. The story gives a mild critical view of patriarchal family control, but it keeps that point inside a private family tragedy instead of making a wider attack on men, marriage, or Western institutions.
18%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film is an original horror story about the Powell family and a cult. It does not change a known character, source story, or historical figure.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Public discussion centers on the acting, gore, family breakdown, cult plot, and bleak ending. No anti-woke or DEI complaint tied to the film appears in the supplied X pass or the wider search.

Creator track record context
Kevin Greutert has a limited liberal signal from healthcare-insurance criticism in Saw VI and comments about corporate control and political anger. Jared Rivet's public profile centers on horror, and his Jackals interview discusses Satanic Panic and questionable cult deprogramming. Tommy Alastra's supplied profile is business-focused, while Richard Valentino and Kennedy Del Toro have little public record of activist work. The creator context supports a small score, but it does not show a recurring DEI or identity-driven pattern.
