Son

Son follows Laura, a young mother who lives with her eight-year-old son David in a quiet American town. One night, strangers appear in David’s room, and Laura believes they belong to a cult from her past. David then becomes very sick, and doctors cannot explain his pain, bleeding, and strange behavior. Laura runs with him while a police officer tries to learn whether she is telling the truth or losing control. The movie uses a grim, bloody, and uneasy horror tone as it moves between real danger, fear, and visions.

Laura’s love for David drives every major choice in the story. She hides him, searches for answers, and commits violent acts when she thinks the cult is trying to take him. The story keeps asking whether Laura is protecting a sick child, obeying an old fear, or helping something evil survive. The cult, the doctors, the police, and the child’s illness create a dark world where trust breaks down quickly. The ending turns the family bond into the film’s most frightening idea, because saving David may also mean accepting what he has become.
