Andy Duckerman once performed magic at the Institute of Magic, but his career has fallen apart. His old mentor asks him to return as a counselor at the mountain camp. Andy must guide a cabin of young beginners while facing his former partner and rival, Kristina Darkwood. The children train for a contest, and their messy group slowly becomes a team. The tone is light, silly, and warm, with grief and family pressure under the jokes.
The movie gives each camper a personal problem that connects to a special skill. Theo struggles with grief after his father's death and learns to perform in front of people. Judd stops trying to copy his famous father and discovers that costume design is his real gift. Ruth, Nathan, and Vera also find useful talents while the group learns to support its weaker members. The story treats teamwork, kindness, confidence, and personal choice as simple lessons for children.
