Rob Anderson is a funny but careless substitute teacher who is about to marry Megan, a doctor he has loved for years. The wedding takes place in Charleston, where Megan's rich father doubts that Rob is ready to join the family. After drinking with his best man, Rob wakes up naked in a hotel elevator. He must cross the city, avoid the police, and solve the strange time loop before the church bells ring again.
The movie presents Rob's failure to grow up as the main problem. Megan is a black pediatric doctor, while Rob is a black substitute teacher who starts as the less settled partner. The cast also includes Megan's Black business-owning father, a black mother, and several black friends and side characters. The jokes focus on nudity, sex, drinking, public shame, and Rob's repeated failures, while the ending supports church marriage, steady work, and personal responsibility.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Naked.
Woke representation / casting
The film places a black couple at the center and gives Megan a prominent role as a pediatric doctor. Megan's father and much of the supporting group are also Black. This creates an audience-visible identity pattern across the main family and lead roles. The movie presents it as normal life, not as a stated diversity message, so the signal remains mild.
18%
Woke political dialogue
Not present. The film uses wedding, faith, and manhood language, but it does not push modern identity or activist ideas.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. Rob's growth is about maturity, work, and marriage. The story does not make race, sexuality, or identity politics the point of his arc.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film includes a hostile business takeover and a demanding father. It treats them as plot obstacles, not a modern critique of capitalism, family life, or Christianity.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
The film is an American remake of the 2000 Swedish comedy Naken. The original followed Swedish characters Anders and Maria, while this version follows black American characters Rob and Megan in Charleston. That is a clear race and setting change in the central couple. The change affects the whole movie, but the film does not frame it as an activist statement.
30%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. The reported complaints focused on weak humor, repetition, nudity, and the Groundhog Day comparison. No anti-woke complaint was found in the supplied X pass or the reviewed public coverage.
0%
Creator track record context
The available creator record is mostly low for the writers, director, and producers. Marlon Wayans has public LGBTQ+ allyship, but his work here is broad comedy rather than DEI advocacy. Mary Vernieu has spoken about representation in film, which adds a small context signal. The movie itself does not build an identity or activist message from that background.
