One Piece Film Red follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat pirates when they visit Elegia for a huge music festival. The star is Uta, a famous singer who knew Luffy as a child and is tied to the pirate Shanks. Uta wants to end the suffering caused by violence by placing the crowd in a dream world called New Genesis. Luffy, his crew, Shanks, and the Marines must stop her before her promised peace becomes a trap. The film is bright, loud, emotional, and packed with songs, jokes, fantasy battles, and family drama.
The story gives Uta a strong female role and makes her the center of a worldwide movement for peace. Uta treats her dream world as a cure for war, hunger, and grief, but the plan removes free choice and traps people in a false life. The film questions celebrity worship because Uta’s fans follow her into danger while her fame makes people excuse her mistakes. Luffy and Shanks answer her plan by defending real life, personal freedom, and the hard work of facing pain instead of hiding from it.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for One Piece Film Red.
Woke representation / casting
Not present. The cast uses fictional anime pirates, Marines, and fantasy beings. The film does not make race, ethnicity, or diversity a story point.
0%
Woke political dialogue
Uta repeatedly speaks about ending war, hunger, fear, and suffering. Her promise of a new age gives the film a mild peace-activist tone. The dialogue does not use modern race, gender, or DEI language. The story answers her plan by defending freedom and choice.
10%
Identity-driven story themes
Not present. Uta is a powerful female singer, but her role is a personal fantasy story about trauma, celebrity, and freedom. The film does not make race, gender, sexuality, or DEI politics the message.
0%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Not present. The film shows pirates, Marines, and a world government fighting over control. That conflict belongs to the fantasy setting and does not target modern Western institutions, capitalism, Christianity, or traditional family life.
0%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. The film adds Uta and new past events to the One Piece story. Those additions change plot history but do not swap a character’s race, gender, sexuality, or heroic role.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. A right-leaning report repeated a lawyer’s claim that the film was anti-feminist, anti-democracy, and anti-revolutionary. That complaint attacks the film as regressive rather than saying it pushes woke or DEI ideas. The separate X pass found no boycott, review bombing, or notable claim that Film Red was woke.
0%
Creator track record context
Eiichiro Oda’s wider work often uses freedom and oppression themes. Those themes give the project a mild broad activist signal. The creator profiles show no clear DEI, race, gender, sexuality, or social-justice campaign pattern. The other listed creators have mainly commercial anime and business careers with low cached woke scores.
