Emma works as an actress on Scare Campaign, a hidden-camera horror show in Australia. The crew faces falling interest because a darker online series is winning viewers, so Marcus pushes the team to make its next prank more extreme. They choose an abandoned mental hospital and target Rohan, a former patient who knows the building. The film mixes dark comedy, sudden violence, and repeated twists as the crew loses control of its own show.
Emma feels guilty about frightening people and warns Marcus that the team could hurt the wrong person. Marcus cares more about ratings, while the Masked Freaks turn online viewing into a deadly game built on cameras, data, and real violence. The story treats the thirst for shocking content as its main danger and shows how a screen can hide cruelty from the people watching. Emma's struggle is about choosing between her old relationship, her coworkers, and the young actress Abby while the prank keeps changing shape.

Creator track record context
The cached scores for Colin and Cameron Cairnes are 0/100, and their title interviews focus on horror craft and practical effects. Meegan Warner’s title interview discusses Emma’s moral worry, not identity politics. Bryce Menzies has a cached score of 21/100 because of other films about Indigenous people and Australia’s colonial past. This gives the film a small creator-context signal, but not a strong one.
