Years after the MTV series, Alpha Scott McCall brings his allies back to Beacon Hills. They must stop a returning Nogitsune. Allison Argent is pulled back from the afterlife. Derek Hale’s teenage son Eli becomes the new teen wolf figure. The plot is a reunion and supernatural action story about pack loyalty and sacrifice, not a social-issue drama.
The movie keeps franchise LGBTQ continuity that audiences can see. Mason Hewitt returns as a black gay deputy, and Jackson’s relationship with Ethan continues as an established gay couple. The core story stays on pack reunion, Allison’s return, father and son werewolf ties, and Derek’s heroic sacrifice. Identity is present in the cast and franchise habits, but it is secondary rather than the engine of the plot.

Breakdown
These are the editorial factors and ratings behind our score for Teen Wolf: The Movie.
Woke representation / casting
The cast is a diverse modern California group from the franchise. Mason is a black gay deputy, Jackson and Ethan stay a gay couple, and other regulars keep clear racial diversity. That mix fits the setting and is easy for viewers to notice, even though the film is not a total redesign built only for representation.
44%
Woke political dialogue
Reviews and parental guides describe action, myth, and fan-service talk. They do not report identity politics speeches or campaign-style lines in the movie itself.
0%
Identity-driven story themes
The main story is pack reunion, Allison’s return, father and son werewolf ties, and Derek’s sacrifice. Gay characters and open acceptance still show up as franchise habits, so identity is secondary rather than the plot engine.
38%
Western institutional / cultural critique
Hunter and werewolf fights and Argent family pain are old franchise lore. They are not framed as attacks on Christianity, capitalism, or Western institutions.
10%
Woke character or canon changes
Not relevant. Jackson with Ethan and Mason’s orientation were already set on the series. The movie continues that status and does not swap race or gender of legacy characters for this film.
0%
Anti-woke backlash and complaints
Not present. Talk focused on quality, length, and missing Stiles. No large anti-woke or forced DEI campaign against this movie showed up in coverage.
0%
Creator track record context
Jeff Davis is an openly gay showrunner who pushes LGBTQ and diverse stories. Tyler Posey also framed the film and franchise through queer acceptance. That raises the score without making every creator a high progressive signal.
