The Forge follows Isaiah Wright, a 19-year-old Black teenager in Charlotte. Isaiah spends his days playing basketball and video games while living with his single mother. His mother tells him to find work or leave home, so Isaiah takes a job at Moore Fitness. Joshua Moore, a Christian businessman, becomes Isaiah’s mentor and guides him through prayer, Bible lessons, work, and service. Isaiah must face the harm caused by his selfish choices and learn how to become a responsible man. The film focuses on Christian discipleship, forgiveness, personal responsibility, and faith. Older men guide younger men through prayer, service, and lessons about following Jesus. The story does not center on race, gender identity, sexuality, representation, DEI, or identity politics. The film presents faith, family responsibility, work, and traditional social roles in a positive way. The main message is that God gives people purpose when they follow Jesus and help others.
