Unplanned follows Abby Johnson, a Texas woman who rises from a college volunteer to a Planned Parenthood clinic director. She believes abortion helps women until she assists with an ultrasound-guided procedure and thinks she sees a fetus fighting to live. Abby leaves the clinic, joins the protesters outside, and faces a lawsuit from her former employer. The drama uses flashbacks, prayer, family scenes, and graphic medical images to tell a serious story about guilt, faith, and redemption.
The film is built around a strong pro-life message and treats Planned Parenthood as a business that puts abortion first. Abby’s early defense of a woman’s right to choose and the clinic’s talk of empowering women appear as views she later rejects. The story presents motherhood, unborn life, repentance, and Christian support as better answers to a pregnancy crisis. Its political force comes from a conservative pro-life view, and its main conflict attacks Planned Parenthood rather than promoting modern identity politics.
