Ryan is a skilled American chef who is trapped by gambling debt. He runs to a villa in an unnamed Latin American country to visit Jack, an old friend who appears to have the perfect life. When Jack dies, Ryan takes Jack’s name and private chef job so he can escape his own problems. The quiet thriller becomes grim horror when Ryan learns that wealthy guests pay for meals made from human flesh.
The story makes a clear but limited attack on greed, extreme wealth, and business excuses. A staff member gives a long speech that says the agency helps people even while it arranges brutal meals for rich clients. The film also contrasts the rich house on the hill with the poorer town below and shows local people being used for the guests’ luxury. Ryan’s moral collapse remains the main focus, so the social message supports the suspense instead of taking over the whole story.

Woke political dialogue
Imogene gives one long speech that defends the agency’s work as a form of corporate responsibility. The speech says the agency helps people even while it arranges brutal meals for rich clients. Other scenes connect the luxury house to the poor town and the people harmed by the business. The film uses this material as a warning, but most of its dialogue serves the thriller plot.
22%
Identity-driven story themes
The story repeatedly links extreme wealth to the use of poor local people as ingredients for luxury meals. The film presents greed, envy, and moral compromise as the forces that keep this system alive. The film presents the wealthy guests’ luxury as part of a system that exploits the local area. The main plot still follows Ryan’s personal fall, so the class message remains inside the horror story.
28%
Western institutional / cultural critique
The agency turns murder and human flesh into a paid service for wealthy customers. The story shows the agency using polished corporate language to excuse the harm. The film contrasts the hilltop villa with the poorer town below and treats global profit as a force that crosses borders. This critique is clear and important, but it targets wealth and business abuse rather than Christianity, family life, or traditional gender roles.
