Catherine O'Hara

Personal context

Summary

Catherine O’Hara was a Canadian-American actor, writer, and comedian known for sketch comedy on SCTV and roles in Beetlejuice, Home Alone, Christopher Guest’s mockumentaries, and Schitt’s Creek. Her work often centered on eccentric, sharply observed comic characters. Discussing Schitt’s Creek’s queer representation, she said other shows should follow its example of showing people respecting one another; she also publicly criticized Donald Trump’s remarks about Canada. She supported Upward Bound House’s work with families experiencing homelessness, but no sustained political campaign role or identity advocacy affiliation is on record.
