Denis Leary

Personal context

Summary

Denis Leary is an actor, comedian, and writer known for abrasive observational satire, including No Cure for Cancer, and for co-creating and starring in Rescue Me. His work often uses provocation and irreverence to address politics, social behavior, and cultural taboos. He has called himself a Democrat and a feminist, criticized Donald Trump, and said in 2017 that he wanted a female president because the United States was lagging behind other democracies. His public record includes political and feminist statements, but no sustained DEI or identity advocacy is on record; he also founded the Leary Firefighters Foundation to support firefighters and their families.
